Miley Cyrus?

Just as every girl in America, my kids idolize Miley Cyrus! I think Dave idolizes her photographer - this shot of Evanthea reminds me of Miley's new CD cover!

Recycling saves more green!

I live and have my office in Coventry, CT where we have a "pay per bag" program for garbage - we pay $10 for 10 large garbage bags and that is all the garbage men will pick up; but recycling is free. I have always put plastic containers, glass, and the like in the recycling bin - but I didn't realize just how much can be recycled until I recently read our town newsletter. We now recycle all paper, junk mail, catelogues, cardboard boxes, and other paper products. We have reduced our garbage payments in half! Wow! Now, we're keeping the Earth green, saving some green (money, that is), and passing the savings on to our clients who will benefit from the greener Earth!

Bridal Show Update

I posted a gallery on the website http://www.parsonsphoto.org/ to show the photos that we display at the shows, it is appropriately called ~Bridal Shows 08-09~!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table at the Enfield show! it was great getting a chance chatting with everyone - and glad to see there are some of you after my own heart looking for those great deals! (Don't understand? come to our table at a bridal show - we have some secret "show only" specials - but you have to stop by to find out what!!)

I'm looking forward to the next show! See you all in Cromwell at the Crown Plaza 10/5! I will again be speaking on what to look for when hiring a photographer (even have some fun games!).

"Brides Need to Eat Too!!"

That's what my daughter, Alexandra, told me when I caught her munching on a Mickey Mouse waffle in front of the tv, wearing her bride dress! I laughed so hard because that's what I preach to my brides (at least I know SOMEONE is listening! LOL!). Here's a chuckle for you too!

Batteries...

Batteries pain me...I am always cringing when I have to shell out $20 for 4 that will last in one flash for one wedding (I use 3 flashes per wedding, do the math!). It also pains me that they get tossed after every wedding - I feel like not only am I throwing away money, but where the batteries end up!

I use Canon cameras and they have rechargable batteries (unlike Nikon, I believe, who uses AA) - so not really a problem with the cameras...but the flashes...

So I investigated options! Right now I currently own a battery pack that handles the flashes that I use (I am "tethered" to the pack so I cannot share!) but I still feel that's not enough. I strongly dislike the consumer brand rechargeable batteries because the flash drains them too quickly.

I just ordered a new (well, new to me) brand of rechargeable batteries and a smart charger (which means they don't need to be drained to be recharged). Problem solved with the money wasting and I'm also continuing to KEEP THE EARTH GREEN!! :) Whew!

Not bad for a last minute engagement shoot! Nathan Hale Homestead was a perfect backdrop for a beautiful sunset and and interesting corn maze!

Enfield Bridal Show this weekend

Can you believe that it's bridal show season already? I can't! It snuck up on me fast this year!

Danielle & Mike's Wedding

Hurricane Hannah could not dampen the spirits of Danielle & Mike this weekend in Rhode Island! We even had a nice little break to take some quite shots on the veranda! I think the show stoppers were Danielle's Maggie Sotterro dress and the funniest cake topper!

1926 Bentley

This past weekend, Wayne Carini dropped by to visit our neighbors in Old Lyme sporting his 1926 blue Bentley. Not one to pass up a photo op, Dave pushed me out the door! The car is a beauty! Wayne was saying that this car is going to be featured in an upcoming show on the Discovery channel (I am almost positive he said the Discovery channel, please correct me if anyone knows otherwise). Wayne said that this car (and three more) are in a trust for his daughter's future. How wonderful is that?

Vinnie & Cheryl's Jack and Jill

What happens when you get a bunch of family members, friends, DJs, karaoke, the Jackson 5, and movie star cut outs in one room? One heck of a party! I don't think I have ever laughed so hard as I did at Vinnie & Cheryl's Jack and Jill! Thanks to After Hours DJ Entertainment for the ENTERTAINMENT (and trying to rig the musical chairs!)!!Did Howard Stern make it to the party? I swear he was one of the Jackson 5...is that what he's doing now? LOL!You know it's a great party when the bride's grandmother belts out an awesome "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" for karaoke!
